I have not protected the images on this website from being downloaded. This means that images can be selected and downloaded on another computer — and then printed or sent to others, by e-mail — without me being aware of it. I mention that this is OK on my page titled PRICES.
I have no idea of how often this is being done.
But I have some thoughts about downloading photos from my website that I would like to share with you.
The images that appear on my website have been reduced in size so that they will download more quickly to your computer screen when you visit my website. They are what are called low-resolution images. They look fine on a computer screen and they are great for e-mailing to friends and relatives. But when someone orders prints from me I go back to the original high-resolution files to make the prints. My prints will always be more detailed and of better quality than can be made from the low-resolution files found on my website. And, of course, these low-resolution files are definitely not suitable for making 5 x 7 or 8 x 10 prints.
It would be nice to know who regularly downloads my photos. It's just natural for me to try harder to photograph kids whose family wants, appreciates, and uses the photos — and I don't know that is the case when photos are being downloaded without my knowledge.
